Smile at the Confusion

Why keep it in when you can scream it out?

What makes me tick? Things I Love Part I

I have the deepest affection for intellectual conversations. The ability to just sit and talk. About love, about life, about anything, about everything. To sit under the moon with all the time in the world, the full-speed train that is our lives slowing to a crawl. Bound by no obligations, barred by no human limitations. To speak without regret or fear of consequence. To talk for hours and about what’s really important in life.

You know how when you create something online, be it a blog, or a YouTube channel or a Wattpad account, what you’re essentially trying to do is trying to create an online identity – something that tells the world who you are, in the most interesting way you can (which would obviously be a million times better than how you would probably be able to do it in real life, because, let’s face it, real life doesn’t have the ‘Backspace’ option)

And I thought I’d start out with a list of things I love, because I figure it’s the best way to know a person: find out what they love, for from that list alone, you’ll know both who she is and who she wants to be.

I love being with people who will constantly make me think. Ah, thinking! It’s such a lost art! It seems to me that nowadays, people speak first and think later. The number of unnecessary and easily avoidable tiffs and verbal barbs culminating in bad blood and awkwardness these days is simply unacceptable. And don’t even get me started on completely pointless conversations! Fangirl-ing over celebrities is all right when you are 16 years old. But when you’re 19 going on 20? Argh! Grow up already! And in this setting, there are people who –  (i) collect their thoughts before speaking; (ii) don’t fan girl; (iii) have a remarkable ability to not be bound by so called ‘society’s standards’ of acceptable and unacceptable conversation topics and so you can talk to them about anything and everything — right from childhood cartoons (to the more seasoned viewer – anime, yes, I know…I was initially talking to the ignorant) like Beyblade and Dragon Ball Z to awkward yet hilarious experiences at the movies, to what is the meaning of love — and not feel even a bit awkward; and (iv) you can have deep, meaningful, yet adorably sweet, making you go “aww” conversations, with. These people are rare to find and even harder to hang out with (as they never seem to be in the same classes as you!) but even 15 minutes spent with them can remarkably brighten up your day and you can face the first hour of class with a smile on your face.

What do you love doing?
